The context: The DC Resource Bridge is a free way for DC residents to get legal help. DCRB processes legal intakes from DC residents, speaks with the applicants, and works to match them to free or low-cost legal help. Their website provides information about how they work and how to apply, and is often the first opportunity someone has to learn more about DCRB.

The problem: The DC Resource Bridge launched their website in the beginning of 2026, and began advertising for their services with flyers that promoted their website. However, the website was limited in the amount of information provided, and DC residents shared confusion about expectations and process.

The solution: Incorporating a new FAQ block with enhanced features via AI and custom code will allow users to better understand what the organization provides, and feel confidence in using them as a resource.

What is currently shown?

There are a few questions and answers in the default FAQ, but the webite builder (Softr) had limitations in what information could be included. For example, there was no way to include links into answers.

Problem:

DC residents were confused about how the DC Resource Bridge worked, and were expecting different resources than the organization provided.

Solution:

Enhancing the FAQ section to incorporate more information, through AI and custom code, allowed for more clarity and increased transparency.

Process & Final Designs

The designs used custom code to ensure all FAQs were formatted with bullet points and appropriate spacing, for reading ease.

Using the platform's agentic tool, I updated the plus/minus iconography on the original code block to up/down accordions, to match what the previous FAQ design had.

Custom code was used so that the client was not limited to a pre-structured FAQ block, which did not allow for embedded texts. Adding text with hyperlinks was important to help users more easily find additional information as needed. Since DC Resource Bridge is a community resource, providing more resources via the FAQ was a priority.

  • This website will use Weglot as a translation tool - ensure translations are accurate
  • Monitor survey results for frustrations/confusion
  • Continue testing for responsiveness, especially as/if more content is added
  • This project underscored how using AI, custom code, and design together can work together to center user needs
